Lacombe Hospital Lobby Renovation
The Lacombe Hospital and Care Centre lobby renovation, which was completed in 2025, is improving accessibility right at the front door. Updates included replacing a worn, uneven tile floor, lowering the admitting desks to improve access and sightlines for wheelchair users, and adapting three washrooms to better meet mobility needs. These changes were shaped by feedback from patients and families, recognizing that small improvements can make a big difference for people navigating mobility challenges.
This $675,000 project was funded primarily through the community’s generosity, with approximately 85% supported by Lacombe Health Trust and the remainder funded through the province’s Infrastructure Maintenance Program. We’re proud to help create a more accessible, inclusive environment for everyone who visits and works at the Lacombe Hospital and Care Centre.
Lacombe Hospital Emergency Department Renovation
A major renovation of the Lacombe Hospital and Care Centre Emergency Department was completed in 2019, creating improved treatment spaces, a new waiting room, and barrier-free washrooms. Along with a modern, comfortable environment, the renovated emergency department improves visibility from the triage desk, enabling staff to better monitor patients in the waiting area for changes in condition.
The $3.1 million project, led by Alberta Health Services (AHS) in partnership with Lacombe Health Trust, included new nursing stations, enhanced infection prevention and control measures, and upgraded lighting. Lacombe Health Trust pledged $1.3 million toward equipment and construction costs. LHT’s contribution was supported by community fundraising, a feasibility study funded in 2015, and a major contribution from the Mary C. Moore estate. The emergency department serves about 25,000 people in Lacombe and surrounding areas, with donor recognition integrated into the waiting room.
